Scholarship Application

Student Trip to Japan

Dear Students and Parents,

Springfield Sister Cities Association offers scholarships to the students who participate in the summer student exchange to Isesaki, Japan. If students are awarded for the scholarship, students will possibly receive up to $1,000 which will be counted toward the trip cost. The association welcomes the students who are actively involved in exchanging and promoting culture and friendship between the two cities, Springfield and Isesaki.

It is highly recommended that applicants have experience in serving the association in the effort to promote the friendship with our sister city. We encourage students to be involved in the Japanese Fall Festival, the Kite Festival, and Isesaki Summer Leadership Academy (in late May) in conjunction with Missouri State University prior to the trip. If students believe that he or she meets this qualification, please apply for this scholarship. In addition to the service experience in the association, student’s ability to communicate in Japanese language is also considered. Please attach a link to a language demo video to show his/her communication ability in Japanese.

HOW TO APPLY:

  1. Complete the application form
  2. Attach a letter of intention
  3. Submit before December 15th, 2023

*If a student decides to withdraw from the trip after the scholarship was awarded, the fund will be returned to the association.
