SSCA and the Springfield Botanical Center will host the first Sushi and Sake tasting event at the Mizumoto Japanese Stroll Garden. Springfield’s Craft Sushi will offer a variety of five-piece sushi rolls from which guests can choose two, while sampling four varieties of sake and enjoying a special Japanese dessert. The sushi menu is designed to make the event accessible to those with dietary restrictions.

Well-known Springfield musicians Molly Healey and Dallas Jones, both of whom have represented Springfield at Isesaki, Japan’s annual City Festival, will perform.

Location

The event will take place at the Mizumoto Japanese Stroll Garden as it blossoms into early spring and twinkles in the twilight. In case of rain, it will move indoors to the Botanical Center.
2400 S. Scenic Ave., Springfield.

Tickets

$50 each, with a limit of 150 guests. This is a 21-and-up event. Please register below. Proceeds benefit enhancement of the Stroll Garden.

The Springfield-Greene County Parks Department is pleased to partner with the Springfield Sister Cities Association to present the first “Sushi and Sake” event at the Mizumoto Stroll Garden in Nathanael Greene Park to celebrate the iconic food and drink of Japan, where the SSCA enjoys a long-standing relationship with Isesaki in the Gunma Prefecture. Net proceeds from this event will go toward the enhancement and maintenance of the Mizumoto Stroll Garden.

Sushi Descriptions

Each ticket includes two five-piece sushi rolls prepared by Craft Sushi. Guests can select their rolls and sauces at the event. Come early for the best selection! The options will include: Veggie Roll (Carrots, mixed greens, asparagus, avocado, sesame seeds) Vegan, GF and Alpha Gal friendly; Chicken Teriyaki Roll (cooked chicken, carrot, green onion, apple, sesame seeds) GF and Alpha Gal friendly; Craft Sushi Roll (sushi-grade salmon, cucumber, avocado, sesame seeds) GF and Alpha Gal friendly; Shrimp Tempura Roll (Shrimp tempura, cream cheese, green onion, Asian slaw, crunchy tempura) Alpha Gal friendly. Dessert will include a GF option.
