We’re participating in Give Ozarks Day: Rally for Recovery, an online giving day event on Wednesday, March 24, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Along with more than 150 area nonprofits, we’re rallying for recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.
OUR NEED
COVID-19 has had a severe impact on nonprofits, including Sister Cities. We work to raise funds and achieve our mission through cultural events and travel opportunities — most of which had to be cancelled or reimagined in 2020 and into 2021.
Your contribution on Give Ozarks Day will help us regain lost funds so we can survive the pandemic and continue creating and promoting opportunities to foster multi-cultural awareness and appreciation in Springfield and abroad.
OUR MISSION
In today’s socio-political climate, we believe it is as important as ever to provide these opportunities to open minds and change hearts in Springfield. We believe in the power of personal connections to create peace, understanding and mutual respect between all people.
For more than 30 years, Sister Cities has provided experiences and person-to-person interactions for the people of Springfield that result in friendships across boarders.
We host community events like the Kite and Piñata Festival (8,000+ attendees in 2019), the Japanese Fall Festival (14,000+ attendees in 2019), and Taste of Tlaquepaque (200+ attendees in 2019).
We take Springfield citizens on life-changing trips to our sister cities. We bring citizens from our sister cities directly into Springfield homes to transform entire families through our hosting opportunities.
DONATE
When you contribute to Springfield Sister Cities, you contribute to culture and diversity in Springfield; you advocate for the power of individuals to enact worldwide change; you connect globally to thrive locally.
You can support our effort by making a secure donation at causemomentum.org/projects/create-cultural-connections-in-sgf anytime from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on March 24. All gifts are tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowed by the IRS.
For each unique donor during each hour, we will have a chance to win one of the $5,000 hourly prizes throughout the day. We recommend that you make multiple smaller donations throughout the day, rather than one large donation. The system allows donations as little as $5.
SHARE
Please follow our efforts on social media at facebook.com/SpringfieldSisterCities or instagram.com/sgfsistercities and help share our story. Use the hashtags #GiveOzarks and #GiveCulture to share your support throughout the day.
We’ve put together some instructions and pre-written social posts, texts, and e-mails that you can copy and paste to make sharing easier: Ambassador Instructions.
